I cant say that I knew Arthur well , in fact I'm not even sure that I met him . I came to Craven House periodically to service a couple of employees' cars . Some employees have been very long standing , this is indeed another testament to how the business was run and the happiness of a ship kept in shape .
It's fair to say that a man of his evident stature , charisma and charm will leave a huge hole in many people's lives .
Of the family I know Mark and Yvonne and I'm sure that the company is left in the good hands of Arthur's children .
It would be disingenuous to underestimate the impact Arthur had primarily in the Woking area and no doubt further afield .
Many people will feel they owe him a debt of gratitude for the employment he gave to many folk , with Crater Controls later Medelec and of course Lansbury Estate/Craven House .
Not only have his immediate family lost a tower of a man in many senses but Woking has lost one of its finest sons .
My sympathies to the family and friends .
