I’ve been in business for almost 45 years and I’ve come across just a handful of people that I would consider as being a true gentlemen and Arthur would be at the very top of my list. He was always polite, courteous and keen to spend time debating many topics, and never shied away from putting his views forward, even if they might have on occasion been on the edge of controversial. He may have been from a bygone age but I often wonder whether we’d all be better off if we returned to adopting some more of the values that was surely instilled in Arthur at an early age, and that he carried through into his long and illustrious career in business. His entrepreneurial spirit will be sorely missed and I will certainly miss my chats with him and of course the hugely enjoyable time I spent in his company over lunches.
